Aptihealth

Aptihealth is a behavioral health platform connecting patients with care teams, clinicians, and personalized treatment plans. I worked as the Product Designer to improve both patient-facing and provider-facing experiences, redesigning dashboards, streamlining multi-stakeholder workflows, and making complex healthcare interactions more intuitive. My role also included implementing analytics to uncover drop-offs in onboarding, which led to a 6% improvement in conversion during the first month.

The redesign helped raise the platform’s NPS score and improved engagement across the board, making it easier for patients to access care and for providers to coordinate treatment effectively.

My Role

As a Product Designer at Aptihealth, I worked within a design team of four and a broader product team of ten to redesign critical parts of the behavioral health platform. My contributions included creating more intuitive dashboards for both patients and providers, clarifying multi-stakeholder workflows, and ensuring that each role in the care process had the right information at the right time.

In addition to design, I collaborated closely with product managers and engineers to implement analytics that uncovered key drop-offs in the onboarding process, leading to measurable improvements in conversion and engagement. This role required balancing user needs, regulatory requirements, and business goals to deliver a platform that supported both better patient outcomes and provider efficiency.

The Challenge

Redesigning Behavioral Health Workflows for Patients and Providers

Aptihealth set out to make behavioral health care more accessible by connecting patients with therapists, psychiatrists, and care managers through a single platform. While powerful in concept, the original experience wasn’t optimized for either patients or providers, leading to confusion, inefficiency, and missed opportunities for engagement. Complex care workflows, outdated design, and lack of visibility across roles limited the platform’s impact.

This created several key challenges:

  • Fragmented workflows: Patients, providers, and care managers often didn’t have visibility into each other’s steps, creating bottlenecks and delays.
  • Onboarding drop-offs: Patients frequently abandoned the sign-up process due to unclear flows and friction points.
  • Low provider efficiency: Clinicians struggled with cluttered dashboards that buried important information under unnecessary complexity.
  • Compliance requirements: HIPAA and accessibility standards added constraints that the existing design didn’t fully address.

To overcome these issues, Aptihealth needed a redesigned platform that clarified multi-stakeholder workflows, simplified patient onboarding, improved provider efficiency, and met the highest standards of compliance and accessibility — all while supporting better health outcomes.
